Nectarine Crisp

I bought a bunch of fresh fruit from a fruit stand the other day and decided to try making a crisp with the nectarines. I recently purchased little creme brulee dishes from Crate & Barrel and decided that this would be a good chance to use them.

What You Need:
Nectarines (I used two - one white and one yellow)
Old Fashioned Oats
Butter
Cinnamon

1. Preheat the over to 350
2. Slice the nectarines and put them into your dishes
3. Sprinkle old fashioned oats over the top of the nectarines
4. Melt the butter and then pour a small amount over each dish
5. Sprinkle cinnamon on top
6. Put crisps into the oven for 25-30 minutes

& you're done! It's a great healthy alternative to a lot of store bought desserts and pairs well with vanilla ice cream.

Silver Trident/Ralph Lauren Home Interior Design Brunch -- 8.9.15

I recently received an invite to Silver Trident Winery for a Ralph Lauren Home interior design brunch. Ralph Lauren is iconic and the only thing better than Ralph Lauren Home is Ralph Lauren Home + food & wine. I looked around and fell in love with a set of dining chairs, a cocktail cart, and several accent pieces. I sipped on a glass of rose before heading upstairs for the brunch. I sat at a beautiful 20 seat Ralph Lauren dining table and munched on quiche, fresh fruit, wild rice, & a cupcake from Kara's Cupcakes in Napa. I, of course, had to try all of the Silver Trident wines and was impressed by every single one. I ended up going home with a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc (Symphony #9) and will definitely be back to buy more wine in the future. The upstairs was painted Mercer, which is a cool gray color by Ralph Lauren. I fell in love with the color! I'm kind of dying to paint my bathroom that color now. I had a wonderful time and all of the people at Silver Trident were incredibly friendly and helpful. I will be making a post later this week showing you my favorite items from Ralph Lauren home. Until then, please enjoy some of my photos from the event today.

Audrey Hepburn Inspired Halibut

Audrey Hepburn's son, Luca Dotti, recently published a book full of family pictures, drawings, and recipes titled 'Audrey At Home'. I'm obsessed with Audrey Hepburn and was excited when I realized that most of the recipes seemed doable, even though I'm generally not the best cook. I like recipes with very few instructions. In the book I found a recipe for sea bass that sounded delicious. I didn't have sea bass in my fridge, but I did have halibut so I decided to substitute. I changed a couple details when making the recipe myself and am excited to see that it turned out perfectly! It was hands down the best fish dish I have ever made. I thought I would share my variation of the recipe with all of you.

What you need:
Aluminum Foil
Halibut Fillets
1 Shallot
Basil
Yukon Potatoes (1 for each fillet)
Thyme
Parsley
Cherry Tomatoes

1. Lay down a piece of aluminum foil and preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
2. Slice a potato and lay the pieces on the aluminum foil.
3. Put a fish fillet on top of the potato slices.
4. Cut the cherry tomatoes into quarters and scatter around fillet.
5. Cut the shallot and sprinkle the pieces over the fillet and potatoes (I used about 1/4 of a shallot for each fillet.
6. Chop up basil, parsley, and thyme and sprinkle them over the top.
7. Wrap up the fillet in the aluminum foil.
8. Repeat for however many fillets you're making.
9. Put the fillets in the oven for 25 minutes

& voila!

If you try it, be sure to let me know how it turns out!

Moustache Baked Goods -- 8.3.2015

While having lunch with my sister and mom in Healdsburg today, I stumbled across a bakery and HAD to blog about it. It's called Moustache Baked Goods and it is everything I love in a bakery. Cute cupcakes, macarons, coffee, and a small retail area. They carry Kinfolk Magazine (which I am obsessed with), a bunch of fun jams (sriracha, anyone?), as well as, adorable notecards. My mom purchased four cupcakes and I purchased a green tea matcha macaron. I am incredibly picky when it comes to macarons and this one did not disappoint. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and the texture was perfect. I wish I had tried it before leaving the shop, as I probably would have bought a dozen more. Good news for my hips, I suppose! If any of you are ever in Healdsburg, it's definitely worth stopping by!

Alameda Antique Faire -- 8.2.2015

My boyfriend keeps recommending that I make a new blog. I hate having to write a first post about what is to come for the blog, so I'm choosing to just jump right into this.

Yesterday, my mom invited me to go with her to the Alameda Antique Faire. Even though Alameda is less than an hour from home and it's an event that happens monthly, I had never been. I jumped at the chance to go since I'm currently in the process of moving. I was hoping to find a cool piece of art or a coffee table. Going into the fair, I had NO CLUE how massive it was going to be. I walked the rows of antiques for over 3 hours and didn't get through it all! I fell in love with some alcohol dispensers, but convinced myself that I didn't need them. There were hundreds of beautiful coffee tables, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I did come home with a couple records to add to my collection. It was hard to pass up Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall". The entry fee to the fair was $5 and all of the records came out to $15. I also bought an adorable peach cobbler from a food truck for $10. For a total of $30, I felt pretty good about the event and will probably go again in the future.
The super cool alcohol dispensers

The furniture at this vendor was incredible

I love the cocktail shakers in the leather suitcase, especially on this cart

Beautiful chair & table!

My purchases.
